Given that you will manage a staff member, our ideal applicant will also be able to demonstrate guidance and management ability. You will have the ability to manage complex relationships across a range of stakeholders and will be comfortable working in a high-profile and high-pressure context. Our ideal applicant is self-motivated and proactive, can think strategically when it comes to policy development, identifying risks and mitigations early on, and demonstrating excellent ability to influence stakeholders. This will involve building relationships with a diversity of key stakeholders (including DLUHC’s Recovery Strategy Unit, the London Fire Brigade and London boroughs), providing strategic input to support enforcement decisions, and coordinating the collection of operational material and evidence to inform enforcement efforts. You will oversee the development of policy work and the delivery of the strategy. In this role, you will support the implementation of a strategy outlining the role of the GLA in supporting enforcement action related to building safety. We are looking to recruit one Principal Project Officer to join the GLA’s Building Safety Team. While the GLA is not an enforcement body, we are considering how best to support enforcement action from government, the London Fire Brigade and London boroughs. ![]() While many building owners are working at pace to make their buildings safe, we are aware that remediation in other buildings is taking longer than expected. We work with various stakeholders to remediate buildings as soon as possible. The Building Safety Team within the Greater London Authority administers the Building Safety Programme for London, on behalf of government. In response, the government has taken various actions, including setting up a Building Safety Programme, to ensure that these buildings can be made safe. ![]() The tragedy at Grenfell Tower in 2017 revealed an urgent and high-profile crisis, with many buildings in the capital, and across the country, found to have dangerous materials on their external wall systems, as well as other fire safety concerns. All Londoners deserve to live in homes that are safe. ![]()
